Pre/Post Tan Instructions
Tan Care
- Prior to your tan: Exfoliate & Shave!
- Avoid moisturizing soap/body wash (do not use DOVE, bar soaps, or in shower moisturizers before your tan. These will create a barrier on your skin) Shower Gel
- We highly recommend using nylon exfoliating gloves in the shower (These can be found at Dollar Tree/Walmart/ CVS) 2-3 days before your appointment.
- All Natural Sugar Scrub, $30 great for exfoliating with nylon exfoliating gloves!
- Shave and shower the day before if possible so pores can close up. An older used razor or razor without a moisture strip. Be sure to exfoliate shaving cream and shaving residue on your legs after.
- Our Luxury Shower Gel also acts as a great shaving cream!
- Waxing should be done 48-72 hours before you spray tan. If your wax damaged your skin it could leave dark marks even 5 days after your wax.
- Any Nair or hair removal creams should be used 48-72 hours prior as well. Any skin burns will cause discoloration.
- Laser hair appointments should be done 24 hours before spray tan.
- Pedicures done at least 24 hour hours prior. If not possible, please don't let nail tech apply lotion.
- Nail appointments should not be done immediately after your tan. (Next day is okay)
- Chemical peels, facials, retinol, or any other extreme skin care services may affect the evenness of your spray tan.
- Do not apply lotion, perfume, deodorant, or makeup before your tan. Come with clean fresh skin.
- Please come with make-up and jewelry already removed.
- If you have been sunburned in the past few months, it could cause uneven tans and peeling. Tans done on sunburns are done at your own risk. I can not guarantee a positive result.
Here is what you do the day of your spray tan session:
- Try to shower at least 8 hours before your spray tan. Showering right before you come hydrates your skin and does not leave room on the skin for the spray tan to be absorbed. Be sure to not use oily/heavy moisturizing body washes prior to the tan. If 8 hours is not possible that is okay.
Shower Gel Available- Make sure no residue from shampoo, conditioner, and shaving cream is on your skin. It is very important to make sure there is no barrier on your skin that will prevent the tan from properly developing. Use exfoliating gloves with water before exiting shower.
- No lotion, deodorant or make-up!
- Remove jewelry
- Wear LOOSE fitting clothing and flip flops to your session. No zippers! Your boyfriends t-shirt and baggy pjs are perfect.
- Bring a hair tie.
- Wearing an old bathing suit/undergarments based on your preference. It is not required. No one likes tan lines. .
- If it is raining be sure to bring long sleeves, pants, closed toed shoes, raincoat, and an umbrella.
- Please have makeup and jewelry already removed before you come.
Here is what you do after your spray tan:
- Wait 1-6 hours (based on your prescribed rinse time)
- Avoid showering, bathing, hand-washing, dishes, swimming, moisturizing, or any activities that get the skin wet or cause sweat until your prescribed rinse off time,
- If you are going to sleep right away, we recommend long and loose clothing and be sure to not rest hands on tanned body. No skin to skin contact.
- Set your alarm to your prescribed rinse time. We are not responsible for overdeveloped tans due to "falling asleep".
- Shower with water only for first shower! The solution will continue to develop over 24 hours. DO NOT USE SOAP.
- You will see all the bronzer wash away in the shower. You will NOT have color post rinse. The tan takes 8-24 hours to develop. Do not panic post rinse when you don't have any color.
- Use your hands to gently rub your legs and body so that all the bronzers and solution rinses off evenly.
- Not doing so could result in streaks from the water running down your body. If this happens, simply rinse again.
- Our spray tan approved Lotion can be applied post rinse. Otherwise wait till the next day to lotion.
- If possible wait 24 hours before using soap after your spray tan.
